Free and unfettered communication with customers is key to the success of a business. There are umpteen number of ways for a business to stay in touch with its customers. From a simple digital address book to full scale CRM deployments, customer information could be stored anywhere.
Customer data portability is of paramount importance, in particular, the contact information. In a single step, you can import all the contact information to your HappyFox instance. To do that, export contact information from the database in question in the industry standard CSV or Excel formats.

You’ll find the option to initiate the import process from the Contacts page of your instance. Click on the Import Contacts link in the sidebar and you’ll be taken to the file upload page.

A few things have to be sorted out before uploading the data though. Make sure that the names and emails go into two different columns. HappyFox assumes that the first row carries the names of the columns – say “Name”, “Email”. So it skips the first row during the import. Records from the second row onwards are imported flawlessly.
Not everyone with access to the HappyFox instance have permissions to import customer data willy nilly. For reasons of security, only account administrators have the rights to do that. After importing customer contact records, you might want to roll them up together to better utilize the Contact Groups feature!
